Trail 3 of six · Walt Disney World · 7 finds
Find the Throwback
Find the pieces, symbols, sounds and jokes that Imagineers carried forward when an older attraction made way for something new.
One URL, one search: what was kept from the ride that used to be here.
Your guide

Trixie the Time Traveler, the guide written for this hunt. She also guides Trixie’s Time Adventures on the TrixiePlanner front page.“Imagineers rarely erase the past completely. Look for the detail that crossed the bridge from an old attraction into the new one.”
How this trail reads
An attraction that makes way rarely leaves nothing. This trail follows the pieces that crossed: a figure, a sound, a joke, a structure. The name that stopped is checked against Disney's own printed guide maps, which date when a name was last printed. Printing is what a map can attest; a map cannot date a decision.
Your own record
A reader keeping track of what they have seen is collecting, and these pages support it. What they do not do is turn it into a score: there is no total set against another reader, no ranking of one find above another, no badge and no streak. The three difficulty words the original page carried on the Hidden Mickey finds — they graded the finds against each other — were removed for that reason, and a build that lets one back onto a page fails.
Marking a find is a convenience for a reader and not a record this house keeps. It is written into this browser's own storage on this device; it is never sent anywhere, it is never counted against another reader, and there is no badge, no streak and no leaderboard at the end of it. With scripts switched off there is no button, and nothing else on this page changes.
The seven finds
1 of 7 · The balcony critics changed stages
Hollywood Studios · Sunset Boulevard
The clue
Follow the Muppets coaster from its queue through the preshow. Look for familiar balcony hecklers and orchestra members who appear older than everything around them.
What you are looking at
Walt Disney Imagineering confirmed that the original Statler and Waldorf Audio-Animatronics, the penguin figures and the sarcophagus wearing 3D glasses moved from Muppet*Vision 3D into the new coaster experience.

Every piece above is something this house holds, and the link goes to it. A listing establishes the place. It does not establish the find.
2 of 7 · The vultures found another mine
Magic Kingdom · Fantasyland
The clue
Watch the outdoor mining structure for two silent birds. At the cottage finale, study the figures instead of the projection effects.
What you are looking at
The two vulture figures were reused from Snow White's Scary Adventures. Several dwarf figures in the cottage finale also came from the retired attraction.

- The 1993 and 1996 Magic Kingdom sheets print the shortened name; the 1977 resort booklet prints it in full.
A printing run attests the name on a dated sheet, never its absence.
3 of 7 · Mr. Toad signed over the deed
Magic Kingdom · Fantasyland
The clue
As you enter Owl's damaged house, turn and look behind you at the framed pictures before your Hunny Pot carries you away.
What you are looking at
One picture shows Mr. Toad handing the property deed to Owl. Another on the floor shows Pooh with Mole, a character from Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

4 of 7 · The movies left three clues
Hollywood Studios · Hollywood Boulevard
The clue
At the carnival, scan between the popcorn and hot-dog stands. In the tornado, look high. Near the factory, listen beside the shaking trash can.
What you are looking at
The carnival includes a 'Great Moving Ride' poster. The tornado scene has a 'No Place Like Home' mailbox, and the back alley reuses the cat sound from the old gangster scene.

- The last sheet carrying The Great Movie Ride is 2017-05 and the first without it is 2017-08. Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway is not among the 33 names that began printing after that gap.
The sheets date when the name stopped printing. The pool is every name that started after the gap; it proposes and nothing more, and a person rules.
A printing run attests the name on a dated sheet, never its absence.
5 of 7 · Walt's city took another route
Magic Kingdom · Tomorrowland
The clue
On the PeopleMover, watch the left side as the train enters the north show building. Do not mistake the scene for a modern Tomorrowland miniature.
What you are looking at
The illuminated city is a surviving portion of the Progress City model displayed with Disneyland's Carousel of Progress in 1967. The original model was much larger.

- The model itself never carried a name on a guide map. This is the run for the attraction that carries a reader past it, and it dates nothing about the model.

6 of 7 · A horizon remains at the center
EPCOT · World Discovery
The clue
In the Mission: SPACE queue, study the large rotating gravity wheel. Ignore the outer machinery and look directly at its center.
What you are looking at
A small Horizons pavilion logo sits at the center of the gravity wheel, turning the successor's largest queue prop into a marker for the attraction it replaced.

7 of 7 · The old road still sings
EPCOT · World Discovery
The clue
During Test Track's forest drive, listen to the automated car rather than the effects around you. One casual sentence is doing historical work.
What you are looking at
The car says 'It's always fun to be free,' echoing World of Motion's theme lyric. The attraction also uses musical notes and props that point back to the 1982 original.

- World of Motion is not in the corpus at all: the EPCOT sheets jump from 1996 to 2012, and the 1996 sheet already prints Test Track. The run below is the successor, not the name that stopped.
A printing run attests the name on a dated sheet, never its absence.

What a find rests on
- Who published it
- Disney’s own page — disneyworld.disney.go.com, d23.com or disneyparksblog.com — or somebody else’s. 0 of the 7 finds rest on Disney’s own; 7 do not.
- Standing
- LEAD, on all 7. Opening the operator’s page for the place does not open it on the claim, so a find stays a lead until a page is opened on the claim itself. Nothing on these pages is settled by having been published.
- Disney lists the place
- 7 finds reach a Field File — this house’s page for a thing Walt Disney World lists. That establishes the place. It establishes nothing about the find.
- Disney printed the name
- 6 finds reach a dated guide-map printing run off Disney’s own paper, which is the strongest thing in this set.
- This house wrote it down
- 0 finds reach a row in the Hidden Mickey workbook or the S.E.A. workbook, each row carrying its own owner and its own standing.
- A name left the map
- 1 finds reach a succession pair: the last sheet a name was printed on, the first sheet without it, and the pool of names that began printing after the gap. The pool proposes and nothing more; a person rules.
- Nothing at all
- 0 of 7 finds reach nothing this house holds. They say so on their own line rather than leaving a reader to assume more.
A printing run is Disney's own paper. Two kinds of sheet are read for it: one carries the operator's own digital text, the other was read by machine off folded paper. Both can attest that a name was printed on a dated sheet. Neither can anchor an absence, so a run states its own reading for its first and last sheet.
