Hidden Mickeys

Seven current finds drawn from a much larger status-checked catalog. Start with the clue, look with your own eyes, then open the evidence.

One URL, one search: hidden mickeys at magic kingdom, epcot and the resorts.

How this trail reads

Hidden Mickeys are not a Disney publication. The operator names none of them, which is why every find on this trail is a lead and stays one. The house keeps a separate catalogue of the shapes people report, each with a park, a place and an area, and the seven here are drawn from it. That catalogue also carries a difficulty grade, and the grade stays in the register: it is data about looking, never a rank printed beside a find.

The catalogue behind these seven

These seven are a walking route. The full record — every shape reported at each park, the ones that are gone, the open questions, and what Disney itself says about Hidden Mickeys, which is nothing — is a separate set of pages: the Hidden Mickey record. The difficulty grade that record keeps stays inside it and is never printed as a rank beside a find.

Your own record

A reader keeping track of what they have seen is collecting, and these pages support it. What they do not do is turn it into a score: there is no total set against another reader, no ranking of one find above another, no badge and no streak. The three difficulty words the original page carried on the Hidden Mickey finds — they graded the finds against each other — were removed for that reason, and a build that lets one back onto a page fails.

Marking a find is a convenience for a reader and not a record this house keeps. It is written into this browser's own storage on this device; it is never sent anywhere, it is never counted against another reader, and there is no badge, no streak and no leaderboard at the end of it. With scripts switched off there is no button, and nothing else on this page changes.

The seven finds

1 of 7 · A moon with familiar craters

Magic Kingdom · Fantasyland

On-rideCurrent

The clue

During the Aladdin sequence in Mickey's PhilharMagic, stop watching the flying carpet for a moment. Study the full moon and its darker craters.

What you are looking at

Three of the moon's craters resolve into the classic head-and-ears shape. It is brief and much easier to catch from the center of the theater.

2 of 7 · The birthday shadow

Magic Kingdom · Fantasyland

QueueAround Nov. 18

The clue

In the outdoor queue for Under the Sea, look near the rockwork around midday. This is a seasonal sunlight trick, not a painted symbol.

What you are looking at

Around Mickey's November 18 birthday, built shadows are reported to align into a Mickey silhouette. Weather, time and the exact date make this the hardest find on the route.

3 of 7 · The painter's workbench

EPCOT · World Celebration

On-rideCurrent

The clue

In Spaceship Earth's Renaissance scene, ignore the large figures and scan the small shapes sitting on the painter's workbench.

What you are looking at

A compact arrangement of workshop objects forms the familiar three circles. The scale and low light make it easy to miss.

4 of 7 · Three marks on a heavy door

Hollywood Studios · Galaxy's Edge

QueueCurrent

The clue

In the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run queue, inspect the blaster damage on one of the large industrial doors.

What you are looking at

Three round blaster marks sit in a head-and-ears arrangement. It fits the weathered environment well enough to disappear in plain sight.

5 of 7 · The face behind the Tree of Life

Animal Kingdom · Discovery Island

OutdoorCurrent

The clue

Walk to the rear side of the Tree of Life. Search the carved and textured surface rather than the obvious animal figures.

What you are looking at

A Mickey-like face is worked into the rear texture of the park icon. Change your angle before deciding a cluster is only bark.

6 of 7 · Mary Blair's towering mural

Contemporary Resort · Grand Canyon Concourse

InteriorCurrent

The clue

Stand back from the full-height mosaic in the Grand Canyon Concourse and scan the repeated shapes, not just the large figures.

What you are looking at

Several Mickey-like details are catalogued within the mural's geometric composition. This is a hunt across the whole work, not a single eye-level mark.

7 of 7 · A bunker you can see from orbit

Magnolia Golf Course · 6th hole

LandscapeCurrent

The clue

At the sixth hole, look beyond the green for a sand trap whose outline is far less ordinary than the others.

What you are looking at

The greenside bunker is shaped as a giant Mickey head. It is one of the resort's largest deliberate Mickey forms.

What a find rests on

Who published it
Disney’s own page — disneyworld.disney.go.com, d23.com or disneyparksblog.com — or somebody else’s. 0 of the 7 finds rest on Disney’s own; 7 do not.
Standing
LEAD, on all 7. Opening the operator’s page for the place does not open it on the claim, so a find stays a lead until a page is opened on the claim itself. Nothing on these pages is settled by having been published.
Disney lists the place
7 finds reach a Field File — this house’s page for a thing Walt Disney World lists. That establishes the place. It establishes nothing about the find.
Disney printed the name
0 finds reach a dated guide-map printing run off Disney’s own paper, which is the strongest thing in this set.
This house wrote it down
7 finds reach a row in the Hidden Mickey workbook or the S.E.A. workbook, each row carrying its own owner and its own standing.
A name left the map
0 finds reach a succession pair: the last sheet a name was printed on, the first sheet without it, and the pool of names that began printing after the gap. The pool proposes and nothing more; a person rules.
Nothing at all
0 of 7 finds reach nothing this house holds. They say so on their own line rather than leaving a reader to assume more.

A printing run is Disney's own paper. Two kinds of sheet are read for it: one carries the operator's own digital text, the other was read by machine off folded paper. Both can attest that a name was printed on a dated sheet. Neither can anchor an absence, so a run states its own reading for its first and last sheet.
